Crucial measurements to match existing trusses
It is important to know what to measure when doing an addition to guarantee the new trusses will match the existing. Below you will find diagrams of the heels to help with the taking of measurements. Keys measurements are Overhang, Heel Height, and Pitch Of Roof.
The Soffit Drop is calculated when the heel height and overhang have been identified. Having original plans is not always going to be fully accurate, getting these measurements will guarantee the new trusses match.
To find out the pitch of roof you measure rise over run. For example, a 6/12 pitch roof will rise 6” for every 12” (run) across.
